Veterinary Jobs in Texas Are Waiting for You.
If you’re looking for a new veterinary adventure in Texas, we should be at the top of your contact list.
As the saying goes, “everything is bigger in Texas.” That’s not different for the number of memories you’ll experience in The Lone Star State. If you were to explore every nook and cranny of Texas, it could take you months to fully indulge in the state’s culture. Not only is it one of the biggest states in the USA, but it was also its own nation from 1836 to 1845.
If you’ve been looking for a change, a veterinary career in Texas may be right up your alley!
Are we compatible?
Do we have an uncommon amount in common?
You’ve created a business with your own culture, personality, and style. We’ve done the same. Both have proven to be successful. Both are valid. Neither should cancel out the other. Neither should dominate. Instead, let’s find out if the two can be happily and ever-so-naturally merged! We’ll start by saying that we firmly believe that behaviors are values in action. As our AmeriVet team moves from concept to execution, each of us understands that we are working toward our mission every single hour of every single day.
Okay. That’s the theory. Now let’s talk reality. There are six ‘behaviors’ that are all about practicing what we preach:
BE BOLD
(innovate)BE BOLD
Status quo is a status “no.” While effort is appreciated, we reward and celebrate results. We applaud those who set big, bold goals and achieve them
NO JERKS ALLOWED
.NO JERKS ALLOWED
It’s simple. Be the person you would want to work with and respect others. Trust that your teammates are working toward the same goal, even if their approach is different than yours.
PRACTICE BLAMELESS PROBLEM SOLVING
PRACTICE BLAMELESS PROBLEM SOLVING
Find solutions and don’t point fingers. Learn from the past, but don’t dwell on it. Find a path forward and always stay above the line.
TAKE IT PERSONALLY
(be accountable)TAKE IT PERSONALLY
Be accountable for your actions. Put your brainpower to work and look for the “how” instead of the “can’t.” Show initiative and be resourceful.
HAVE HUSTLE
(keep moving forward)HAVE HUSTLE
Forward motion creates change. Look to the future and know that it’s okay to move quickly. Be willing to do what it takes to get the job done… plus a little bit more
TRUE PARTNERSHIP
(think ‘we,’ not ‘them’)TRUE PARTNERSHIP
Think “we,” not us and them. When we share the same goals, our partners win and we win – and a shared success feels better.
To get into the nitty-gritty of each of these, just click on the icons. Then ask yourself: Are we more alike than different? Only you can answer that question. And we look forward to the possibility of finding out!

FAQs
Is There a High Demand for Vets in Texas?
Incredibly high demand! As a large and diverse state, Texas offers a range of opportunities for veterinarians. If you want to be in a vibrant city, San Antonio and Fort Worth are two of the best cities in the state. Both offer authentic flavors of the state, with its rich history (Remember the Alamo!) and delicious food (you can’t beat Tex-Mex). And with their family-friendly values, many Texas own pets to liven up their homes.
If you are a large animal veterinarian, Texas offers ample opportunity. Head west, and you’ll find thousands of ranches and farms full of cattle and other livestock. And with charming towns like Laredo, Tyler, and Spring, you’ll find the best of small-town living.
How Many Vets Are There in Texas?
Texas has approximately 5,400 veterinarians. Some split their time between animal hospitals and clinics. Others are independent practitioners, and others work part-time.
This headcount only includes those who are actively working as veterinarians. There are many more who are retired or have transitioned to working outside the profession.
Of the 5,400 active veterinarians in Texas, most practice small animal medicine, working with companion animals such as dogs, cats, birds, and the like. Though the number of those working with larger animals–horses and cows, for example–is rapidly growing. Texas, of course, is known for its cattle.
