Is There a High Demand for Vets in Ohio?

Ohio absolutely needs more vets! The state has over 75,000 farms, 45,000 of which have livestock. But according to the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, only 2% of veterinarians in Ohio focus on food animals like cows and pigs. There is a huge need for more vets, especially in rural areas.

Of course, there are challenges when it comes to working rurally. Pay is often lower, and visiting farms in all weather conditions can be tricky. But it is rewarding work, and the communities of Ohio absolutely need more qualified veterinarian support.

What Are the Best Cities for Vets in Ohio?

There are a ton of great options for places to live in Ohio. From urban centers to rural farm life, Ohio offers something for everyone.

Dayton is an excellent mid-sized city with great food, beautiful parks, plenty of cultural events, and well-run schools. Toledo is another lovely city that offers affordable living, perfect for young families.

Powell, Ohio, on the other hand, is perfect if you’re looking for a more rural setting. It’s beautiful with its many parks and is known for its highly-rated school system. Willmington is a similarly idyllic small town. With its close proximity to Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati, you can have the best of both worlds.
