The San Antonio Business Journal has announced that Thomas Thill, CEO of AmeriVet Veterinary Partners (AmeriVet), was named a winner of the 2022 C-Suite Award. The C-Suite Award recognizes outstanding CEOs and other C-level executives of for-profit companies in the San Antonio community. Winners show strong leadership, integrity, and vision to move their San Antonio-based businesses forward.
As a lifelong animal lover and entrepreneur, Thill was always intrigued by the veterinary industry. He realized that industries were moving towards the growing trend of consolidation, creating synergies that allow businesses to cut costs, gain buying power, leverage higher levels of professional expertise and provide more valuable services and resources to customers and employees. After two decades in the human healthcare industry, he developed a keen sense for identifying opportunities for success and knew it was the right time to take the veterinary industry to the next level.
In 2018, Thomas Thill was named CEO of AmeriVet Veterinary Partners Inc., when the company moved its headquarters from Ontario, Canada, to San Antonio, TX. An established corporate executive with a track record of growing businesses in the human healthcare sector, Thill identified the veterinary space as ripe for business model innovation.
Competitors were swooping in and changing the core of what made a vet’s practice unique. However, Thill and AmeriVet’s extensive market research concluded that vets didn’t want to lose the identity, legacy, and culture they worked so hard to create. This realization led to the creation of AmeriVet’s Partner Owner model, allowing vets to maintain control of the day-to-day operations of their practices while benefiting from operational and administrative support. Now, vets could collaborate with experts to tackle the business side of their practice so they could focus on what really matters – pets.
Since then, and through a pandemic, Thill has helped AmeriVet grow its operations and staff team exponentially. AmeriVet currently works with 154 practices in 33 states and employs more than 2,500 individuals across the United States, with about 80 living and working in San Antonio. Thill projected that the company would grow to a total of 200 partners in 2022 and the company is currently on track to reach that goal.
Growth like this is what led AmeriVet to rank as one of the fastest growing companies in San Antonio (2021 SABJ Fast Track Award) as well as the 49th fastest growing company in the southwest region (2021 Inc Regionals Southwest Award). AmeriVet also claimed the 2021 Growth Award from the Association of Corporate Growth (ACG) for the Austin / San Antonio market.
Additionally, as a result of Thill’s leadership, AmeriVet was named Business of the Year in 2021 (SABJ) as well as one of the Best Places to Work in San Antonio on two separate lists (SABJ Best Places to Work and SAEN Top Workplaces).
Thomas Thill will be honored at an awards luncheon on September 8, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas along with other C-Suite winners from the San Antonio area.
